MAN D2868 LE436 – V8 configuration marine diesel engine designed for marine propulsion systems. The engine uses a 4-stroke operating cycle, direct fuel injection via Common Rail system, and electronic engine control (EDC). This design allows precise control of injection parameters and engine operating mode.
The engine has 8 cylinders arranged in a 90° V configuration. Cylinder bore – 128 mm, piston stroke – 157 mm, and total displacement reaches 16,160 cm³. Compression ratio – 17:1. The engine uses a two-stage turbocharger system with intercooler and wastegate pressure regulation.
Rated power of this model reaches 882 kW (1200 HP) at 2300 rpm, and maximum torque – approximately 4010 Nm in the 1200–2100 rpm range. The fuel supply system uses high-pressure pumps and electronically controlled injectors. Engine firing order – 1-5-7-2-6-3-4-8.
The engine has a liquid-cooled system with plate heat exchanger and seawater cooling. Lubrication system – forced, with oil filtration and cooling. Standard configuration uses a 24 V electrical system with starter and alternator.
D2868 series engines are used in various marine applications – from commercial to private vessels, where a higher-power diesel engine with electronic control and turbocharger is required.
