Cummins Engines. Advantages of the manufacturer and engine error codes

The great combines and sprayers of today require powerful technical specifications – strong torques and high power density, which the Cummins brand can offer to the market. Cummins engines, which are widely used in agriculture, are distinguished by an exceptional range of liters, which range from 2.8 to 19 liters. Engines of this type are designed with a focus on the productive productivity of the farm, which meets the needs of today’s consumers.

The first Cummins engine was produced back in 1919 and used in agriculture. For more than a century, the Cummins brand has been supplying equipment even to some of the world’s leading manufacturers. Today, more than one million Cummins agricultural engines are produced worldwide. Their power ranges from 49-800 horsepower. Cummins engines are suitable for almost any area, their supply includes tractors, combines and special equipment – sprinklers, tree shakers, irrigation units and autonomous equipment.

What are the benefits of using the Cummins engine for today’s agriculture?

Cummins’ product strategy is focused on added value for customers. The latter is created through the prism of efficiency and lower costs. The Cummins company declares that it is able to reduce the negative impact on the environment with its products. It pursues this goal by investing in research and development, developing the most appropriate solutions for the use of energy. The company’s goals are also focused on additional filtration and treatment of emissions.

Specification of error and fault codes for Cummins motors

Error codes or fault codes are a digital representation of signals about malfunctions in the truck’s systems, which is identified by a built-in diagnostic module. The engine control unit records error codes and this allows you to restore the history of errors and establish the most complete diagnosis. Cummins engine malfunction codes are of two types, and can be active (relevant in the present) or inactive (not very important):

• Fault codes for electronic engine control (an error in the engine or control system was detected);
• Information codes that allow you to understand what happened to the engine or control system;

Error codes are displayed on the dashboard when the machine is in working mode. They are displayed with flashing indicators or on a digital display. The colors of the indicators are most often it is yellow, red and green. What do these colors describe about malfunctions?

• A yellow warning light indicates the need to eliminate the malfunction as soon as possible and it is not advisable to continue working;
• Red color should be understood as a signal for stopping work. This suggests that you need to turn off the engine as soon as possible and leave it turned off until the malfunction is eliminated.
• The green information light does not show an error, it notes some technical aspects – water in the fuel filter, low coolant level, high coolant temperature, high air temperature or high oil temperature.

In modern models of equipment, you can find the error codes yourself using the toolbar menu, selecting the section – “System Diagnostics”.
